Repostober Day 25
The final of the Starter Lines, This one probably gave me the most trouble when designing. I initially had a theme of ‘major archosaur radiations’ and had a Phytosaur fakemon as the Water Starter, to represent the radiation of pseudosuchia, but I never liked any of the designs I came up with for the final stage. I then tried to just go for 'major prehistoric groups’ with a mosasaur fakemon, but couldn’t get a concept down with that either. In the end I decided just to go for full self indugence and make the water line a Spinosaur. I don’t care if 66% of my Starters are dinosaurs, they all look good together and that’s what matters.
Irritot - Water
(Irritator + Tot)
Suchensnare - Water/Fighting
(Suchomimus + Ensnare)
Spinautical - Water/Fighting
(Spinosaurus + Nautical)
Repostober Day 23

Einiferous - Grass/Ground

Repostober Day 24
Continuing the Fakemon train, here’s the Fire Starter of my Region. Spoiler alert it’s probably my favorite of the three starter lines I’ve made.
Dactynder - Fire/Flying
(Pterodactyl + tinder)
Phobiator - Fire/Flying
(Phobia + Phobetor)
Hatzempaler - Fire/Ghost
(Hatzegopteryx + Emperor + (Vlad the) Impaler)
So yesterday I reblogged this post featuring an 11th-century depiction of the Apocalypse Locusts from Revelations, noting the following incongruity as another medieval scorpion issue:
The artist, as you can see, has interpreted "tails like scorpions" as meaning "glue cheerful-looking snakes to their butts".
Anyway, it occurred to me that the medieval scorpion thing might not be as widely known as I think it is, and that Tumblr would probably enjoy knowing about it if it isn't known already. So, finding myself unable to focus on the research I'm supposed to be doing, I decided to write about this instead. I'll just go ahead and put a cut here.
I promise you that if none of these restaurants existed, like-- they just shut down for a day, the US would grind to a halt. No one thinks working in food service is a real job but they want the convenience of hot food and coffee whenever they need it.
